Erlang 21.3: erl_call crashing

Frank Muller
Hi guys

We switched to 21.3 to generate our release and noticed that we can’t use erl_call shipped with 21.3 anymore. It always crashes with SIGSEGV.

Simply overwriting the erl_call binary with the one from 21.2.4 fixed the problem even in release generated with 21.3.

Any idea? Did the Erlang team change erl_call in 21.3?

/Frank

Re: Erlang 21.3: erl_call crashing

Hi Rickard

Trying with 21.3.2 (Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS, 64GB RAM, 12-Core Xeon):

# echo "erlang:memory(). | /opt/txn/erts-10.3.1/bin/erl_call -name txn_app@743 -c my_cookie -e 2>/dev/null

[ hangs for a minutes then returns nothing ]

# echo $?
1

Any idea?

/Frank

No and I'm not able to reproduce it either.

If you are able to reproduce it. Please file an issue at
https://bugs.erlang.org and provide some more info. For example, output
when setting EI_TRACELEVEL=5.

Rickard

Frank Muller
Thanks for the tip. Rebooting the machine fixed the DNS issue.
